Back Stage Pass Diaries:: Rapping with "Empire"

By Tracy, Remarkable Current Tour Manager

Tunisian hip hop group "Empire" opened up for Remarkable Current
twice during the Tunisian Revolution Tour
I thought they were sweet guys with mean rhymes & a part of thriving hip hop movement in Tunis.  They also joined RC in the studio to collaborate on the song "Bouazizi" that was written & produced by DJ Anas Canon, and threw down some inspiring lyrics for the track in French:

We call on for democracy, always the same, Tunisia, today, … wakes up!

Wait a sec . . . Empire just emailed me . . . we've been keeping in touch since returning from North Africa . . . here's what they said when they found out that RC plans to release the song soon:

"We are also happy to hear that the song "Bouazizi" is ready!  There was a positive message through the song and that's what motivated us & connected all of us.  ''Bouazizi'' a martyr, as a symbol of peace, as a call for justice, gave us the power & feelings that bridged the gap between us and that's what totally impacted our collaboration with Remarkable Current . . . the experience was very rich and an opportunity to acknoledge new things about the culture of hip hop.  One another important thing is that we won a true fraternity with Azeem, Kumassi, Anas & Erik - they are really worthy of much respect & we hope this experience will open doors for more collaborations.  Much Respect & Peace to the Hip Hop Ambassadors!
